Nethergill Farm is a Deliciouslyorkshire Breakfast Member and winner of the Delicouslyorkshire Breakfast Award 2010. Deliciouslyorkshire celebrates food and drink in the Yorkshire region. Established to enable consumers to enjoy local sourcing, freshness, tracability and seasonal produce from the Yorkshire and Humber region. As a breakfast member we source many more than 5 ingredients locally.
Enjoy a rustic 2 course farmhouse supper such as Beef in Black Sheep Ale or Nethergill Spicy Lamb, wide selection of vegetables (some homegrown) and apple crumble or Yorkshire Curd Tart (as featured on Countrywise Kitchen ITV 22nd August) in a relaxed homely atmosphere at Nethergill (excluding Sundays). Visitors help themselves and sit round a large refectory table. Vegetarian dishes include vegetable lasagne and gluten free dishes also available.
Or, evening meals can be found at some great local pubs and restaurants in the area. For visitors staying for more than one night we can supply evening meal for the first night and then advise on the best local pubs or restaurants, booking in advance for you, where necessary. We are very concious of 'food miles' and endeavour to source most of our fresh foods from either the farm, local farms or Hawes - our nearest rural market town.
Nethergill meat: As from 2012 Beef will be sourced from our own grassfed rare breed White Shorthorns and lamb from our own grassfed Dalesbred lambs (supply permitting). All meat is hung for 21 days minimum and is slow cooked in our range cooker, making all the meat very tender, soft and delicious. The White Shorthorn is an endangered rare breed with only approx. 260 breeding females remaining in the world. The White Shorthorn is a hardy Northern breed ideally suited to the moorland grazing found at Nethergill.
