Spring is just around the corner, such a welcome sound!
The first Curlew of the year flew over Nethergill today. Such a welcome call here in Upper Wharfedale, a beautiful bubbling trill, so very distinctive. The Curlew itself is unmistakable a long downward curving bill and long thin legs.
Curlews stay up here from now until Autumn nesting in and around the moorland areas. As soon as the fledglings hatch they leave us and migrate to the mudflats on the coast.
