Nethergill makes a large step towards becoming carbon neutral

After many months of research Nethergill has just installed a biomass boiler for supplying heating and hot water to the farmhouse and the new barn conversions and Field Centre being built.  The system uses a 4000 litre accumulator tank to provide a storage or buffer of hot water to feed the system.  The accumulator tank looses approximately one degree of heat per day when water is not being drawn off the system.  The boiler (Bertha) will use in the region of 25 tonnes per year of wood (mainly pine) which will be sourced from within the National Parks from woodland being felled and replanted behind.  For more details please email
